Boats on the Ocean

We held a competition for young school leavers from 15 to 17 to win an opening slot for playing at REALfest. Boats on the ocean won so they will be opening the festival. As a young band from Derbyshire they are doing an all original set.. We feel this band will be a great inspiration to the young and help them see what is achievable. They have also been announced to perform at YNOT festival which is a great accolade for such a young band!

Big Mog & the Alley Cats

These old timers are seamless at playing The Blues and are loved by the older crowd. They are from a local village Appleby Magna and have been playing for 30 years or more. Again, we like the variation in music for the day and feel the blues music will keep the older crowd inspired and cater for their tastes as well as introducing the genre to younger audiences.

ReSession

ReSession have also played at the London 02 Arena and are an Ashby based band performing Indie and Rock style music. They perform covers and originals. They have a very big following and as with the other bands are very popular locally and regionally gigging constantly. we feel the mix of their indie style adds to the variety of styles of music for the festival. We are also keen to have original music for the create value and influence it bestows on the audience.

Elba

Elba are newly formed but each artist has been in bands Ashby based previously. Rob the lead singer organised the music at Food Gusto a food festival here. He is very well known by all local artists. They perform all originals in a pop indie style. Again, based in Ashby de la Zouch and well known as individuals. We feel that being original artists this is unique and contributes well to essence of the event inspiring individuals to formulate their own styles.

W4

W4 are like local celebrities in Ashby, they've been around for 20 years and are well known on the scene. A local band performing most weekends around the region (Nick Wallbank the singer is our senior designer and Lee Wilson the guitarist is one of our website coders). They perform a range of music from the 60's up to present day. Every gig is packed to the seams and they have a big following. They are a great act to perform just before the headline band. They have incredible energy and the lead singers voice is hailed for pure power. They are also on Facebook as W4 music. We feel because of their popularity, experience and talent they will be a real asset to REALfest.

Foo Fighters GB

They are a Midlands based Foo Fighters tribute band. They have just been nominated for the UK’s No 1 Tribute Act. They are quite local, located more further away than others, but chosen to draw in the crowds due to their quality performances and large following. They play sell out gigs around the UK and overseas covering the hugely successful Foo Fighters music. The real Foo Fighters are a massive name and suddenly very trendy again playing large festivals gaining more popularity. So, we felt this was a great choice for our headline act for REALfest. For our first festival we need a big act. You can also find them on Facebook.
